Ivymoon had heard the stories; evil little kittypets turning lone clan cats into kittypet food. Clan cats coming back nearly dead after a fight with a kittypet. She huffed. Just stories. How evil and sharp could these mere kittypets be?
Travel with caution, she reminded herself. Be the smarter one.
Quietly, Ivymoon rubbed herself against the side of a foul-smelling post, cringing. Disgusting.
She walked carefully, but kept herself high as if she were used to the place and the watchful kittypet eyes. Ivymoon's eyes met a pair of brown ones, both pairs narrowing. Her claws dug into the dirt.
"You don't smell like a kittypet," she hissed. "And you look familiar."
"Ivymoon," the other cat said simply, and leaped at her.
The two cats rolled in the dirt, scratching and spitting. Ivymoon tore at the other cat's underbelly, nipping at their tail. She pressed her chin to her chest, feeling the smaller cat trying to sink it's teeth into the soft flesh of her neck.
"Get off of me!" Ivymoon hissed, knocking the dusty-brown cat away with a paticularly harsh blow. The other cat heaved and gagged. A she-cat, Ivymoon guessed. "How do you know my name? You're tresspassing on Shadowclan lands."
"You killed my best friend," the other cat spat, shaking blood from her hind leg. "I'll never forgive you for that. Never." She turned and bolted torward the borders. "You'll pay for him! You'll pay!"
Ivymoon lay on her stomach, licking at stinging scratches. Damn Riverclan cat, she should have known. "Usually she's much more reasonable," she wheezed, chuckling. "Poor thing needs to calm down a bit." Of course she remembered why the Riverclan cat was angry, how could she forget? It'd been her first murder of a useless loner cat. She'd been smiled at if not praised! That other cat needed to get it into her skull, her friend was worthless, Ivymoon thought. Worthless.
The lay her head down, tired and almost lonely. Strange.
