Hawkkit is named for the color of his pelt - a soft brown patterned with tabby markings of a much darker brown. His irises are the fierce gold of a hawk's as well. A lighter hue of brown circles his eyes, mouth, and touches on his paws. His pelt is long and full with a thick mane at his neck, and has already lost the fluffiness of a kit's fur. The tips of Hawkkit's ears are tufted. He is a tall, awkward kit with big paws and a long tail - he'll eventually grow into these features but in the meantime he's a little clumsy.Personality:
Hawkkit approaches everything with enthusiasm, which when combined with his awkward body isn't always a good thing. He's also determined, or stubborn if you look at it that way, and will often repeat the same thing over and over again until he manages it, no matter how many times he falls on his face. Luckily, he doesn't embarrass easily. The kit is not in the least bit shy. He's forever pestering everyone with his millions of questions about every subject from dirt to warrior training. Also, Hawkkit doesn't see rank as something to deter those questions - he's just as likely to chatter at the leader or medicine cat as he is an apprentice. Despite all his eager running-abouts, Hawkkit is very compassionate and always takes the time to encourage others.History:
Hawkkit doesn't know who his father was. His mother, a slender brown tabby named Swiftwind, had chosen not to reveal the name of her mate. This wasn't unusual - Swiftwind was withdrawn and short-tempered, not wasting time in gossip or really in speaking at all. Hawkkit was the first born of two kits. The younger was a female, less than half Hawkkit's size and albino. She was named Icekit, but died very soon after.Sample post:
Swiftwind found herself too impatient with the squalling Hawkkit, and only nursed him for two moons before abandoning him with the other nursery queens and returning to her warrior duties. She was killed recently fighting a badger. Although Hawkkit was saddened, it had always been difficult to think of Swiftwind as his mother so he recovered pretty quickly. Not much really changed in his life with her passing.
Hawkkit scrambled out of the nursery, so intent on chasing the beetle that he didn't notice the warrior passing in front of him. He collided with the lithe warrior's shoulder. Any other kit probably wouldn't have affected the warrior, but Hawkkit was old enough and big enough to knock the warrior back on her heels. "Watch where you're going," the warrior spat crossly at him. Hawkkit, a little dazed, backed up quickly. A bit too quickly, since he trod on the paw of one of the younger kits in the process, drawing a pained squeak from the little one.Family:
"I - I'm sorry," he stuttered, both to the warrior and the squalling kit. With a snort, the warrior moved on. One of the nursery queens soothed the kit, murmuring to another about how she hoped Hawkkit would be made an apprentice soon, just to get him out from under their paws. Rather than embarrass him, the comment excited Hawkkit. Imagining he was a warrior on hunting patrol, the big tabby raced off after the beetle, only to trip over a stick and go sprawling. No matter, he was up and running again before anyone even had a chance to notice.
