History:
Kithood
Eaglescreech was born to a ThunderClan she-cat named Scarletdawn and a ThunderClan tom named Treebranch. He was an unexpected litter of one, as his mother had contracted green cough during pregnancy; killing all of Eaglescreech's unborn brothers and sisters. Eaglekit was very loved by his mother and father. Treebranch became his mentor but the joy was short lived. While training by the clan borders, Eaglescreech and Treebranch were ambushed by a group of rouges. Treebranch grabbed his son by the disappearing scruff of his neck and threw him into the bushes nearby. The rouges attacked moments later and Eaglescreech watched, helplessly, as they tore his father to pieces; scratching at his eyes and ears and ripping his fur and skin and dislodging it from Treebranch's flesh. Blood covered the grass and Eaglescreech fainted after seeing the rouges laugh and then walk away.
What seemed to only have been a second later was really many hours past sunset was the time when Eaglepaw awoke to find his mother howling over the body of her mate and his clanmates dragging Eaglepaw back to camp. His father's remains were so mutilated and distorted that they were lain in a deep hole that was dug out by the warriors and elders that had known Treebranch best.
Moons passed and Eaglepaw never fully recovered from the shock and disgust of his own, faint heart. He swore to himself that he would avenge his father and would never back down from a challenge. This promise of chivalry and courage was seen in his everyday life and he was given a new mentor. Little did everyone know that Eaglepaw's new mentor would be the cause of even more turmoil and strife in the young tom's life.
A Troubled Apprentice-hood
Eaglepaw's new mentor was a wolfish, Abyssinian tom named Fangmark who was only three moons older than Eaglepaw's mother, Scarletdawn. Fangmark was well-liked and looked up to by most in ThunderClan for his toothy grin, rugedly handsome good looks, and his sweet-talking nature. Fangmark had always had his ever wayward, yellow eyes on Eaglepaw's mother and took the opportunity of being her son's mentor as a second chance. He advanced upon Scarletdawn in a snake-like fashion and ignored Eaglepaw's training.
During this time, Eaglepaw almost refused to leave his mother's side. When he did, he made sure she was with other cats, preferably elders, before going to train with other apprentices and their mentors that welcomed him wholeheartedly. Eaglepaw, who had once been a bundle of energy and too small for his legs and nose, had outgrown his odd looks and had started to mature and age, inclining steadily to the handsome looks and fiery spirit that his father and mother had once shown.
One day in Leaf Fall, Eaglepaw realized that his mother wasn't in ThunderClan's camp. She had retired from her warrior post after she had borne her litter; the green cough had weakened her and she was unable to hunt or fight in battle for long periods of time. Scarletdawn was too young to be considered an elder, so she was taken in as a permanent Queen when her mate was murdered. Because of her honorary post and very poor health, Scarletdawn should have stayed inside the camp at all times.
Eaglepaw immediately set after his mother, noticing that Fangmark was nowhere to be found as well. Alone and only an apprentice, he prepared to fight for his mother's honor and his own life if need be.
Eaglepaw came across Scarletdawn and Fangmark near the Thunder Path. Scarletdawn was bleeding profusely was wounds in her sides, tail, and head, and one of her claws had been torn out of its socket. The tabby was being dragged forcibly across the Thunder Path by Fangmark, his yellow eyes burning when they happened upon Eaglepaw.
"Let go of my mother, fox dung!" Eaglepaw howled, rushing at Fangmark. His claws were unsheathed and his mind fumed with hatred and fire.
Fangmark dropped Scarletdawn in the middle of the Thunder Path and laughed maliciously before countering the apprentice's attack. He stepped to the side and aimed a harsh kick at Eaglepaw, sending the apprentice reeling back in pain as his left ear was hit. The impact left him partially deaf in that one ear. He is still able to hear, but he relies more on the vibrations and movement of the ground on his left side than hearing and seeing.
"What are you going to do," asked Fangmark, his words dripping with snake's venom, "call for help to save your precious mommy?" He laughed cruelly, closing his slitted eyes for only a second.
It only took one second though. Eaglepaw sprinted toward his mother's assaulter and tore into his neck while raking his claws along the older tom's belly. Fangmark cried out in pain and staggered over before falling to the pavement, still breathing yet barely living.
Eaglepaw saw a ThunderClan warrior and a patrol appear moments later but the sound of a horn called him back to the Thunder Path.
A car was speeding right toward them, with no intention of stopping for the three cats in the road. Eaglepaw grabbed his mother's neck and began to slide her body off of the road with all of the speed he could muster.
He looked away just as the Monster trampled the still-living body of Fangmark. He would never forgive himself for the incident.
After explaining the circumstances to his leaders and the elders, Eaglepaw was awarded with his warrior name: Eaglescreech.

The air was thin and cool as it carried the autumn-hued leaves of Leaf Fall to the parched grass at the feet of the young Eaglepaw of ThunderClan. The gray tabby's short fur was slicked against his muscular figure by a long gust of wind as his large, green eyes showed signs of worry. Eaglepaw had made his way in the early afternoon to visit his mother, Scarletdawn, in the Queens' den. Scarletdawn, a stunning golden tabby she-cat, was welcomed into an early retirement as an honorary ThunderClan Queen after the murder of her mate and Eaglepaw's father, Treebranch. The other clan members had finally agreed that Scarletdawn's age, ill health, and grief had given her a hard time over the past moon.
Eaglepaw had reached the Queens' den only to find that his mother's bed was empty.
His face instantly clouded with worry and he reeled to face Silvermoon, an experienced Queen that was now watching Lilypad's litter.
"Where is she?" he questioned the silver she-cat firmly.
"I don't know," replied Silvermoon, her eyes scanning the apprentice with motherly concern, "is something wrong, Eaglepaw?"
Eaglepaw shook his head and ran out of the den, muttering an excuse about a hunting obligation as he exited.
Eaglescreech looked around. Scarletdawn was nowhere to be seen.
The handsome apprentice then began to search for his mentor, Fangmark. The ginger-colored, wolfish tom was nowhere to be seen. Ever since Treenbranch's death, Eaglepaw had been without a mentor. His training had been put at a standstill and he and Scarletdawn had wallowed in grief for the loss of a beloved mate and father. Fangmark had been assigned to be Eaglepaw's new mentor and had accepted the position with snake-like enthusiasm. Eaglepaw had heard from an elder that Fangmark had harbored unrequited love for Scarletdawn ever since their kithood together.
'That sly, no good piece of fox dung,' snarled Eaglepaw's mind as he began to sprint out of ThunderClan's camp, 'If he lays one hand on my mother, I swear, I'll kill him!"
The apprentice stopped to try and pick up the trail of his mother and mentor. He breathed in deeply, his ears rotating, straining to pick up any sound that might be helpful. It was weak, but Eaglepaw's pink nose detected a strained scent that resembled his mother's. It was also mixed with that of blood.
"Mother," he whispered with horror in his voice.
Eaglescreech sprinted toward the Thunder Path, where the scent trail led him. In the middle of the pavement was Fangmark. The Abyssinian tom held the scruff of Scarletdawn in his wolf-like teeth. The rest of his mother's limp, beautiful body was being dragged across the Thunder Path. She was bleeding from many wounds in her side and she sported a nasty bruise around her green eyes. One of the claws on her paw had been torn out of its socket and blood made a thick trail from where it had happened.
Fangmark's eyes burned and turned to snake-like slits when he saw Eaglescreech, standing with his mouth gaping at the sight on the Thunder Path.
"Put her down!" Eaglescreech cried as he lunged at Scarletdawn's assaulter. His claws were unsheathed and his teeth lusted for the flesh of Fangmark to sink themselves into.
Fangmark dropped Scarletdawn in the middle of the road and smiled maliciously. He stepped to the side to narrowly avoid Eaglepaw's attack, but not before sending the apprentice flying through the air and screeching with pain as he delivered a kick to Eaglepaw's ear.
Eaglepaw landed on the ground and felt the sound fading in his left ear. He glanced at Fangmark, his face stricken with pain.
"What are you going to do," smirked Fangmark, his eyes narrowed, "cry for help to save your precious mommy?" Eaglepaw's mentor laughed maliciously and closed his eyes for a moment in pleasure.
However, a second was all that was needed. Eaglepaw sprinted toward Fangmark, his green eyes blazing with hate and fury, his mind fuming with anger. He met his target, as expected. Eaglescreech sank his teeth into Fangmark's neck and raked his claws against Fangmark's belly. He released Fangmark and watched as the older tom staggered and then fell to the pavement, writhing in agony.
