[panthersoul] Panthersoul acted much like a bird preening his feathers, twisting his head to lick in embarrassment at his shoulder. A bird mocked him from a dead, leafless tree. A crow, to be exact. Snorting, Panthersoul turned and hissed. The crow went quiet but ruffled its wings in aggitation. Turning, he raised, but jumped when claws grazed his head and ears. Yowling, he glared at the crow, seeming to laugh with a high pitched, quavering laughter.
Grr. Panthersoul would show that dumb bird. Snarling, he lunged, and leaped into the air, teeth grazing some thing scaly and then closing, twisting acrobatically and landing fairly on his feet, teeth entangling the large crow.
Blood drizzled down the side of his muzzle from the crow's bleeding leg, then dropped it and then snapped onto the wing of the crow, hissing. That dumb bird wasn't so witty now, was he? Panthersoul placed it on the ground, pinning it with a large paw, and bared his fangs and hissed. The large tom tore at the wing, then tossed it into the air. The bird tried to fly, but failed and airvaulted to the depths of Panthersoul's teeth.
Finally deciding to kill the bird, he realized that it actually wasn't that bad for the bird. He had only bit its leg and played with it like any cat who acted on instinct, and there were feathers and bites on the wings but nothing too bad.
Digging a hole, he placed the crow within it, airgo glancing at the sky, nodding at StarClan. He praised them and the food. I will kill prey for the sake of my clan, and will take only what food I need and will sacrifice my food to give to my clan mates. Purring in satisfaction, he twitched his tail. Suddenly, the black tom glanced up. Panthersoul twitched an ear and turned around. "Elkstar!" He called to the leader, trotting up to him only a few feet away.
Dipping his head in respect, he purred lightly. "What are you doing out here alone? I came to ... get some fresh air, and hunt, I suppose."

Elkstar flicked one of his ears backward when his clan mate, Panthersoul, trotted up to him and greeted him. "I was just out for a hunt myself." His other ear flicked itself backward too, showing he wasn't too pleased with what he had saw whilst his head was above the hops." A respectful hunt," Elkstar thought the way he drew respectful out in his last statement gave Panthersoul the hint, but to be sure he added"You know, nothing like sending our prey that Starclan has granted us airborne before killing it, and nothing like prolonging a death of any that is inevitable." Elkstar's ear were erect again now that he had that off of his chest."Those tactics Panthersoul, are those of Shadowclan. Be proud of how you care for your appearance, from my experiences the she-cats like it" Elkstar was now grinning in the evening light. The wind was calming, but the air was still chilled though the temperature was perfect, at least for him. Elkstar's bulkiness gave him many advantages."If you would like to join me, I am hunting for rabbit. I thought the queens could use some fur from them to line their nests in the moons yet to come." Elkstar wasn't sure if there was going to be any queens this time. He didn't nose him way into any cats personal enjoyments, they would present themselves to him soon if they were to have kits. [panthersoul] Panthersoul lowered himself dismissively, flicking an ear in agitation though. "It wasn't that hurt," he said quietly, glancing nervously at his shuffling paws. "Besides, I ... I payed my respects to StarClan. Instincts," Panthersoul was rather ashamed that his anger had gotten the best of him, but ... but it was mocking him! It asked for it. Besides, he was very loyal, and the way Elkstar seemed to scold it made him doubt himself.
It's not like he thought highly of him self either. He was saving the crow for his clan, and it wasn't that no one else deserved it because he killed it -- he'd give up all his prey caught in a day's work and take nothing but a small sparrow or a vole, but the way Elkstar said that just made him boil with anger and feel horribly ashamed as well.
But he knew that he couldn't just get off the hook by saying it was instincts. But it was; some thing more instinctual had taken over for a moment, blinded by the ancestor's clans instincts. Shoving it to the back of his head, he responded timidly, blushing at the comment. Or was it a comment? "I'd be pleased to join you. Also, if it helps, I thought I scented rabbits downwind."
