Elkstorm stalked over to the fresh kill pile, and to his supprise, there was a thrush there. Taking the limp bird in his mouth he went to find some shade to lay in. Greenleaf proved this time, as it has everytime, just how hot it could get out. He found a shaded flat rock, upon which he gladly laid down on. The cold stone felt so good to his paws. Laying down he bit into his thrush and looked around camp.

Arrowline walked into camp, sweltering in the heat. He dropped both of his rabbits on top of the pile, which was pitifully small. He grabbed a large field mouse in his jaws, and looked around for other cats. His eyes focused on Elkstorm, who was laying on a shaded rock. He padded over quickly, happy to do anything to get out of the sun's warm beams. "Elkstorm!" he greeted the other cat. "Mind if I join you?" Arrowline's pelt was too thick for Greenleaf, the only thing that he enjoyed about the season was that there was a bounty of prey; he and all of the other cats were full-fed almost every night, even after feeding the elders, kits and queens. Arrowline stood there, politely waiting for Elkstorm to give him the go-ahead.

<Thanks, we are the only Windclanners anyway right now>
Elkstorm looked up, glad to see another clan mate had made it back to camp. "Not at all Arrowline!" Elkstorm moved slightly to the side so that Arrowline could enjoy the refreshing coolness or the stone. Elkstorm's green eyes stared up to Arrowline as he waited for the other tom to seat himself beside him. Arrowline and Elkstorm hadn't really spoke before, this would be a good time to get to know him. Elkstorm had few friends, but he was hoping to increase them, after all he was a friendly cat and he loved to talk to people. Elkstorm looked back down to his thrush, he was hungry, but he didn't want to make a bad impression; friends last longer than food and hunger he told himself.

"Thanks!" he smiled. Arrowline moved onto the rock right where Elkstorm had been a moment ago. His golden-hued pelt stood out on the cold gray stone. The coolness felt great on his warm skin. He took a large bite out of his field mouse - there was no doubt at all in his mind that another cat hadn't gone through the same feelings as he had during and after they had caught the prey that he was now snacking on. "Um..." he murmured in bliss. "This is so good!" He flicked his tail, swatting away the few stray flies that dared to venture so close to him. "So, what you been up to the past few days?" Arrowline asked the other tom. "Busy, or not much going on?"

Elkstorm chuckled softly "Not much beats this." Elkstorm took another bite out of his thrush. Chewing and swallowing it down quickly he said "I haven't been doing too much. You know, the usuall patrols." He closed his dry eyes for a moment, then spoke agian "How about yourself, the usuall aswell?" He kept his eyes on Arrowline's gold-yellow fur. Arrowline's fur may be light in color but it was thicker than Elkstorm short dark brown and black tabby fur. In this heat it almost didn't matter, it could make the coldest cat warm up, and right now Elkstorm was begging for a break, a storm, anything but sun.

"Same old, same old," mewed Arrowline. "Patrolling the borders, hunting to keep the fresh-kill pile full..." To accentuate his words, he took a huge bite out of his field mouse, which was nearly all gone. Arrowline ate the final leg to finish it off, and swiped his whiskers with his tongue to clean himself off. He looked Elkstorm in the eye. "But isn't that the same for all of us."

Elkstorm had finished off his thrush by the time Arrowline had finished speaking. "The clans aren't active now," Elkstorm met Arrowline's eyes for a breif moment, he didn't want to appear rude and seem like he was staring. He instead looked towards the sky, which thankfuly, seemed to be clouding over. Flicking his ears towards the ominous clouds he asked Arrowline "You think they're bringing rain? I know that we need water, the heat has almost completley dried up all the herbs, which is bad news if there's a fight." Elkstorm could almost smell rain in the air. He didn't particularly like getting wet and cold, but what he said was true; forests, plains, marshes, everything was in need of water.
<ooc- Ah your still pretty good, but I really do hate it when that happens>

"Yes, it does," said Arrowline thoughtfully. "That will be good...maybe it will chase the prey out of its dens. But then it will be humid...even worse for us, don't you think?" He fluffed out his pelt, letting the breeze - the little of it that there was - flow onto him, cooling his body temperature down a bit. "But it also might get cooler, getting some fresh air into this land would be nice." He looked up into the heavens, in the general direction that he believed StarClan was. 'Send us some rain, StarClan, where ever you are!' thought Arrowline in a silent prayer to himself. 'Cool down the air, and our tempers as well.' He had been getting a bit fed-up with the ritual that had become clan life, and was sure that that was the same situation with most of the other cats, not just in WindClan. It was time for some variety, and hopefully some rain, maybe even a good old thunderstorm, would do nicely.[/sup]

"Indeed, indeed, hot and humid aren't a very good mixture." Elkstorm's ears twitched slightly, they usually did before a storm. He bent his head down and closed his eyes, Starclan, please we need you. The hot moons of Greenleaf are upon us, and the air is hot and heavy. A three-day drizzle would do nicely. I am no Riverclan cat, but I do know that we need the rain. Replinish our stream, fill our land with prey agian, and let the herbs thrive! At the end of his thought his head shot up, eyes open, and looking at the section of sky where his ancestors whatched over him at night. He was shocked, quite literally, when after he did that he felt a cold drop splash down on his nose. Turning to Arrowline he said "Arrowline, did you feel what I just felt?"

A small apprentice padded over to them and mewed, "Do any of you want to go hunting?" She was just itching to get out of camp, now that her mentor had died. Her cream eyes flickered back and forth as a rain droplet landed on her pink nose. The young she-cat was very surprised to feel rain again. C'mon rain fall! She purred in her mind. Her tail wrapped around herself and she purred. "Finally rain! Even if it was just a drop.. Did anyone else feel it?" That was the sweet side of her...
