His fur is soft and light, more like air than something attached. It may be soft, but water still beads carefully off his body. It is short enough that he doesn't worry much about matting or tangles. Fawnstep has alight tan undercoat with darker brown stripes. A true mackerel tabby, with one thing wrong. A dark brown left hind paw, as if he backed into mud and was stained. His stripes get darker nearing his tail, ending up being near black on his tail tip. But the contrast is mostly pleasing to the eyes. Fawnstep pulls it off with a lean, lanky build. He is small and quick, with the body of a Riverclanner, who wanted to be a Windclanner.Personality:
He is good at dodging, which suits him. But Fawnstep wasn't built for fighting, more a hunting build. He is good enough at fishing and catching land prey. His eyes are something normal and commonly seen. A bright green, with warmth and fire. They have a small ring of tan-brown around the pupil, bursting away. As for this tom's ears, they are nothing unusual. Small and rounded at the tips, with tufts of white fur peeking out. His hearing isn't impaired, either. Fawnstep has a bright pink un-scarred nose, that of a kittypet's. The pink is marred by a dark patch of liver brown.
Fawnstep's eyes are rimmed in light tan, the lighter markings following to trace his nose and mouth. His tail is longer than usual, giving him better balance. He has long drooping whiskers, which are black. Though one singular whisker is bright white, standing out in the crowd.
Fawnstep is a socialite, he loves meeting new cats and often forgets clan boundaries. He isn't very fiery, and would rather talk than attack. Nothing really riles him up, he would rather Vividstare fight his battles for him. Though he likes making friends, he doesn't like being in the spotlight. Fawnstep is always tongue-tied when put on the spot. He prefers to be a follower and never cause trouble. And where Vividstare would blindly follow his heart, Fawnstep would blindly follow rules. He doesn't believe in following your heart and doesn't believe in crossing borders for love.History:
Being the hypocrite that he is, Fawnstep crosses borders with as much passion for friends. There is almost nothing redeemable about this young tom. He is positively terrified of kits, scared of how they move and their play. Fawnstep avoids the nursery as if adders had taken it over. No cat can really say how this fear came to be, but there isn't a cure for it. Any queen insane enough to court him would best be wary. Everything frightens Fawnstep, from the wolves to the beetles. He is very jumpy and constantly on guard. Always running from his own shadow.
He doesn't like threats and believes any and all threats. Fawnstep is naive, he trusts with his whole heart and never questions. Any cat can fool Fawnstep and he would be to afraid to be angry. The tom isn't even much of a fighter, he won't fight for anything; another cat, his belief's, pride, his clan, even for kits. Fawnstep looks up to Vividstare far too much and would believe his brother, were Vividstare to claim god-like powers. He follows orders blindly and would never consider morals.
But of course, every cat is multi-faceted. right? Wrong, Fawnstep is rigidly set in his ways. Not even pure love can change this supremely wrong cat. And he does have a few redeeming factors, his patience with hunting. If he isn't concentrating too hard, he can ignore the wind and other things that frighten him. But he only does that when he is alone.
Fawnstep was born into Riverclan, the son of loyal Riverclanners who were the children of loyal Riverclan warriors. His lineage was almost entirely pure Riverclan. He was born to Yellowgaze and Ternwing. With two litter mates, Vividkit and Troutkit, his brothers. Fawnkit's mother was protective and gruff, but she loved her kits dearly. He was timid even growing up, always hiding behind his larger siblings. He greatly looked up to the fearless Vividkit. The trio of toms was close and happy, they were never greatly bored.Sample post:
The nursery soon became crowded in the six moons of their kithood. Because three new queens had joined the den, none of them had small litters. It was perhaps because of this that flu spread easier. Almost all the kits got sick, Vividkit, Troutkit and two other kits were spared. Fawnkit was trapped in the Medicine Cats den, with the three other litters and two queens. He was healthier than the younger kits, watching in silent fear as the sickness evolved. Fawnkit was better soon enough, but out of ten sick kits, only four survived. He was much more careful after that. A couple of moons later and Fawnkit had made it to apprentice-ship.
Fawnpaw stood meekly next to his brothers, waiting for his name to be called. After Troutpaw and Vividpaw had been given to mentors, it was his turn. He walked shakily forward and was greeted by his masculine mentor with disdain. Thornstripe was a strong, senior warrior and didn't like having such a timid apprentice. But he did work Fawnpaw hard, training and guiding his impressionable apprentice. It took Fawnpaw two more moons than his brothers to finish training. He was sixteen moons when he was named Fawnstep, and sat a silent vigil alone. Well, silent isn't the word. At every leaf rustling with the wind, he would sound the alarm.
An irritated leader decided to post another cat to help guard. Two moons into his warrior life, Troutsplash left the clan. Fawnstep watched in awe as his brother vanished after a dispute. He wanted to follow, but the disgust in Vividstare's eyes deterred him. Although Vividstare fought battles for Riverclan, Fawnstep always offered to guard the camp and nobody said he shouldn't stay behind.
The wind ruffled the leaves, a hiss of surprise silenced the mouse; which stood in petrified silence, ignored for now. A young tabby crouched in fear, worry for what had made the leaves move. His green eyes wide with terror, what if Vividstare didn't come in time? What if a badger killed him? His mouth went dry and the mouse escaped to live another day. After a few more moments, he turned back to his long-gone quarry. Irritation pricked at his pride, but he sighed and moved on. Fishing would be fine, soothing even. He dragged his paws, thinking about what Troutsplash was doing.Family:
Though Vividstare didn't approve and disliked, loathed even, their brother, Fawnstep missed his brother. He hoped to meet Troutsplash soon, to share tongues. He made it to the sandy banks of the lake, staring into the clear water. His green eyes following the movement of the small fish. A slender, kit-like in it's size, paw rose, claws extended as he prepared to strike. His drooping whiskers twitched faintly, he struck, a flipping fish landed on the bank. Fawnstep killed it quickly, glad he would at least have one fish, if he failed to catch more. Riverclan would be insane to keep a liability if he didn't help feed them.
Fawnstep was aware enough to know that.
