Ashpaw padded out of camp and led the way to the windclan border. They didn't talk much on the way, but the slences weren't to uncomfortable. He parted his jaws and picked up a scent of watermint, and found himself going towards the place where he and his mentor usually got their stock of the herb from.
When they arrived at the spot, he gasped. The once green leaves and stems of the large clump of herbs had turned black, wilted and crinckled. he didn't how they would have died so quickly. "Sorry." He muttered.

"No Ashpaw, it is not your fault. You don't control how the herbs grow." She moved ahead of him and began to check the herb. Leopardfire pulled away some of the dead stems and could see that new ones were begining to push through the earth. "We will just have to keep looking, can you scent any more water mint around here?" She asked as she cleared the area of the dead plants. As she waited for him to check she scraped some dirt over the dead plants, they would help new ones grow some day. |

He watched her and then focused more on the scents around him. He scented something else, a herb, but he couldn't remember what it was. He followed it, curious, and came to a bush filled with berries. "Are these death berries?" He asked, staying back from the bush until he had got an answer. He had already forgotten about what he was supposed to be looking for. He ws getting back to his normal, curious self.

Leopardfire walked over to him and stayed right by his side, not moving any closer to the bush than he was. "Yes, those are death berries, I don't really like having them this close to the water, but what can I do." Her eyes were wide with awe, a single berry from that bush could kill a warrior. A cat trained for moons to survive and fight in the forest. She took another step closer and realized there was another plant growing bellow it. "Look Ashpaw, there is water mint growing within the death berry bush. Do you think that is safe to use?" She took another step closer and waited for his answer. [/center] |

"Um..." He looked around the bush. There were many fallen berries, some squashed on the ground. In spots the ground was stained with their juices. If it had gone into the ground then the roots of the water mint could have picked it up..."I don't think so." He replied and explained his theory. As she processed his answer and he wanited for a repsonse he took a step closer, still tasting the air. They smelled different and he didn't like it.
