A large tortoiseshell tom walked with practice steps. His paws made no sound on the soft bed of pine needles. He wove his way to the edge of the forest. The sun was beginning to rise slowly from the horizon. It reminded him of his crush Dawnfire. The dawn really was a fiery rage of beauty. He looked back to see if Dawnfire was following. She was. Isn't it beautiful. He said staring at the sunrise. He hoped she liked it. There wasn't much else he could think of to do at the moment. Pondsight was glad that he was having a good mood day. He didn't want to have to fight himself all through Dawnfire's surprise. Ponder never was good at gifts, so he hoped she liked it, or at leased thought it was the thought that counts

Dawnfire walked behind him, not to close as to make it seem weird. Like Pondsight, she tried not to make a sound, in fear that a tiny noise would disrupt the beautiful site before her. Although she had seen sunrises before, this one seemed...different somehow. Maybe it was because Pondsight was there? She didn't know. It's wonderful. She purred, and sat down. The sun highlighted her dark brown pelt, making it shine and look like it's acual clour and not black for once. She sighed contently, and flicked her tail, inviting Pondsight to sit with her.

Pondsight took the seat next to Dawnfire gratefully. He sat close, but didn't sit too close and make it feel awkward. He looked at the sky, and saw the beauty of the sunrise, but it was nothing in comparison to Dawnfire. Ponder knew the dark brown cat disliked it when people thought her pelt was black, so he never said anything hinting at a black coat. She looked so beautiful with the sun light hitting her just right. It looked like she was radiating. It could just be his mind making it look like this, but he knew it was a one time thing. Pondsight opened his mouth to ask Dawnfire what he had been waiting for a perfect moment like this to do, but he lost his nerve, and hoped she hadn't noticed.

Dawnfire did notice his mouth open, like he was going to say something. He closed it and she looked back to the sunrise. It couldn't have been that important, or he would have said it to her. They had been friends for awhile now, and they usually told each other waht was on thier mind. She almost asked him if he was going to say something, but decided not to. She shuffled her paws awkwardly. No one said anything, and the silence was a little bit uncomfortable.

Pondsight looked down at his paws, embarrassed that he hadn't said it. He was just afraid of what she would think. The sun was moving fast and he didn't have much time before the whole wonder of the moment was gone. It's now or wait until you can build up the courage again, but by then.... Pondsight couldn't even bare to think of what could happen before then. He would have to face his fears now, or live with the consequences He took in a deep breath, Dawnfire, we've known each other a long time, and... well I've begun to have feelings for you. I was wondering if you felt the same about me? Ponder looked Dawnfire calmly in the eye, letting her know he meant what he said. He prepared himself for her to say she didn't love him, and didn't think they should be friends, because she loved someone else.

She smiled and turned her ehad back from the sunrise to look at him. He looked kind of nervous, but composed at the same time. She almost laughed, but didn't want him to take it the wrong way, so she held it back. She purred to him,Pondsight, of course I do. For a long time, acually. It just took him saying something for her to acually realize it. It was weird saying it out loud, and she felt a little unconfortable, but she was happy as well. She looked at him long enough to let him know that she was just as serious as him, her eyes with a happy look in them.

The tom let out a sigh. He was so happy, he didn't know what to do with himself. A deep purr came out of his maw. Pondsight was glad that Dawnfire had excepted him. He now didn't have to worry and more about what could happen if he didn't ask, or what could happen if he did.
[[Sorry about the shortness. I have no muse.]]

[[lol no problem]]
Dawnfire nodded, still smiling, as the sun finally rose to it's spot it the sky for the day. She got up and streched, then said to Pondsight, Thanks for taking me out here, it was wonderful. She purred. What are we going to do? She didn't know if she wanted to go back to camp, but it didn't really matter, she would be happy where ever she went right now. She would let him decide.

[[Thanks, and ditto what I said before on this one.]]
The tom rose to his feet. Why don't we go hunting. He knew they would be expected to bring back fresh kill for the clan. Pondsight began led the way to a good hunting spot. He stopped, waiting for Dawnfire to follow. Together they would get a reasonable amount of prey for the clan.

Dawnfire followed him into the forest, knowing that hunting would be hard since her mind was else where, but she would have to try her best. She was a fairly good hunter, she just needed to focus. When they started walking again, she intwined her tail with his, looking down at her paws, and the forest floor, not meeting his eyes.

Ponder walked with his tail entwined with hers for awhile. They could wait a while before hunting. He too hoped he could concentrate enough to hunt well. The clan would need to keep it's strength throughout the Leafbare. He snuck a quick glance at his new mate, but looked quickly away again. Pondsight feared she would have seen him, and not like that.

Dawnfire smiled, they were both so shy, so new to it all. She felt a swell of happiness, and then looked back at him. Don't be embarrased. She said lightly, then laughed. She had woken up this morning, thinking that it would be like any other, but now her life was changed, in a good way. She was feeling happier than she had in a long time.

Pondsight nodded to what his new mate said, I'll try not to. This was all still very new to him, and was still used to trying to keep things secret. Both of the cats were very shy, but also very in love. Sometimes silence could be better than talking, but Ponder didn't want to be silent, but at the same time he didn't want to ruin the moments with silly things. Dawnfire, he thought, was graceful, and always knew the right things to say. While he would make silly remarks, and make a fool of himself.

Dawnfire just jept walking, knowing he needed time to sort out his thoughts. No problem, she would give him time. They had all the time in the world. She wished that they could be talking, but he would talk when he had something to say. So, intead of trying to force something out of him, she just strolled along, hoping the time when he needed to talk would come soon.
