Sapphirepaw stood on a rock, surveying the Twoleg path in front of her. She had successfully hunted down and retrieved two fresh-kill mice. They now were on another rock nearby. She wanted to see if any of the other apprentices would come and face her challenge. She let out a loud and carrying caterwaul. "All cats who wish to have these two plump and delicious mice come to the Twoleg Path and race me! Apprentices, hear my challenge!

Sapphirepaw glanced at Runningpaw who had just bounced up onto a rock. She smirked. Heh, well, well, Runningpaw, we shall see if your name speaks true. How about a sprint to the Twoleg pole thing over there? I am sure that it is close enough for you! She meowed mockingly and leaped from the rock onto the patch of grass that was the starting line.

[[So who will win?]]
Bring it on, mosuebrain! Sapphirepaw cocked her ears forward. The pole thing was maybe ten fox-lengths away, pretty far. Her paws tensed. Calculating the distance and her max abilities, she could probably... Righto, Runningpaw. Since I am the issuer of this race, when I drop my tail, we shall run for the mice! She raised her tail, and dropped it.

[[ok, good idea]]
Sapphirepaw let her tail drop and ran as fast as her legs and paws could go. She felt little pebbles and torn up leaves fly by her paws. She frowned and concentrated on her muscles to run. The wind flew past her fur and she smirked. I can win this easy. I might be a new apprentice, but I ain't a kit! Her tail lashed and she let out a huge breath of air.

Sapphirepaw was almost to the pole when she heard Runningpaw's cry. She skidded to a halt and twitched her ears. This might be a joke, you know, to get you to stop so that she can run ahead! Her cold side thought. Yeah, that might be, but she said it wasn't a joke. C'mon, it's only two mice! You can always catch more. Friends are more important, you know. Her warmer side thought back. She hesitated. Then she smelled the pain-scent from her friend.
It's okay, Runningpaw! I'm here. Let me go fetch Talonwing...is it dislocated? Or pulled? Here, it's only fair. Sapphirepaw bounded to the rock that held the fresh-kill. The plump, juicy fresh-kill. She shook her head vigorously and grabbed both and headed to Runningpaw and dropped the mice.

Sapphirepaw raced through the pine forest then skidded to a halt, tripping and falling over a log. Ouch! Mouse-brain, mouse-brain, mouse-brain! Talonwing must be busy right now. I guess I'll just have to try to find some cobwebs around here and get Runnigpaw back to camp. She sniffed around inside the log and her nose collided with a shiny horde of cobwebs. She smiled and swiped them with here paw and skipped three-pawed back to the Twoleg path. She got back to her friend and put the cobwebs clumsily on her leg. This is why I am not a medicine cat! She looked at her friend and then suddenly, an idea came to her. Runningpaw, I think I know what to do with your leg! I've seen Talonwing do it before, it's setting your leg back to it's socket. It looks easy enough. So, do you want to risk it, or should I help you back to camp? Sapphirepaw looked at her friend with large, questioning eyes.

Sapphirepaw frowned. Runningpaw! Your not stupid! It wasn't your fault that your leg got twisted. Ok, I will try, but if it hurts or anything, tell me and I'll run like WindClan to the camp! She bent down and grasped her friend's leg with her teeth gently, placed a paw on the top of her leg, and pulled gently at first, then she tugged harder.
