Ravenstar smiled down at the clan as they chatted and congratulated one another. He swished his tail back and forth, sending brittle brown leaves spiraling towards the ground. Swiftshadow stepped forward. Ravenstar took a deep breath before calling out, "Swiftshadow! You have been a brave and intelligent warrior for the entire clan since you were made a warrior moons ago. Now the clan, and Starclan, will notice you." He smiled and paused for a small dramatic input. "I say these words before the spirits of StarClan, so that they may hear and approve my choice. Swiftshadow will be the new deputy of Thunderclan."

Swiftshadow's eyes widened with realization when Ravenstar said that he would be noticed. There had been no deputy for a while and he would sure feel foolish if he'd jumped to the wrong conclusion. But as Ravenstar began addressing StarClan, Swiftshadow felt sure that he was right and a broad smile crossed his muzzle when it was announced that he would be the deputy. He bowed his head to Ravenstar to show that he accepted the position. He felt like he was about to burst from excitement but he managed to keep a cool expression as he waited for the Clan to be excused.
