Foxfoot had been away from the rest of the Clan, trying to hunt a little since he had a little extra energy. But when he returned to a sad Clan meeting he was a little confused. When he saw Elkstar's body he guessed why everyone was so upset. He slowly moved closer to the old leader's body and shook his head slightly. "What happened?" he asked any cat who happened to be listening. His eyes narrowed slightly in confusion. With Elkstar dead what would the Clan do next? It's not like the next in line could just leave the Clan by themselves to get their nine lives. He sighed as he glanced up and waited for the answer to his question.

Dusktalon sighed as he looked up to Foxfoot. He regained himself enough clearing his throat he he blinked meeting The other warrior's gaze. "Elkstar has passed on to Starclan." He mewoed. "He fell from a cliff killing him instantly in his fall. We found him on a patrol to find him." Dusktalon explained. He wasn't sure on Foxfoot's response. He waited for him to speak. Glanceing around he saw most of the clan had made thier way to their way to their dens for the night.

Foxfoot nodded. "I see," he meowed and sighed. "So what happens now?" he asked. He looked up at Dusktalon, his eyes still clouded in confusion. Surely Elkstar's death wasn't a good sign for the future of the Clan.

Whitewhisker remained crouched on the ground, gentle winds from openings in the tunnel walls slightly buffeting his fur. He waited his turn as several of his Clanmates padded to Elkstar's body, licking their fallen leader's fur respectfully and whispering inaudible words - their last words to the tom.
Eventually, the cats dispersed, apart from Foxfoot and Dusktalon speaking quietly to one another. He got to his paws and sauntered towards Elkstar, almost with reluctance. It was never joyful to see felines as wonderful as him cold and motionless. His spirit was now lost to StarClan, impossible to reclaim. He was utterly gone.
Lowering his head to Elkstar's ear, Whitewhisker struggled to keep his voice level as he said his farewells. "We'll miss you, Elkstar. WindClan has lost a valuable cat..." His voice cracked as he spoke the last few words. He couldn't help it; he'd known Elkstar for seasons. He'd always been a brave leader, strong and smart for his Clan. Whitewhisker had always thought of Dusktalon as a legible succeeder, but there was no possible way he could ever fill Elkstar's paw-prints.
Swallowing hard, Whitewhisker forced himself to back away. Tears were now pricking at his brilliant blue eyes. After a moment, he gave up on trying to hold them back. They streamed down his face uncontrollably; he had to turn his head away from the Clan, guiltily embarrassed about his visual sorrow.
"Good-bye, Elkstar," he whispered to himself. "We'll all...I'll miss you."

Dusktalon wasn't sure and something deep inside him really felt he wasn't ready for leader but then as he thought about it... Maybe it was right. Dusktalon sighed heavy. He was taking on alot after such short of time. The world seemed to be a burr. Looking to meet Foxfoot's gaze he saw sadness that he knew and saw in everyone. "For now it is time to remember Elkstar. When tommorrow comes it will come and we will talk then." He made a mental note to meet with some of the older warriors. it was time Dusktalon got his clan out of these dark tunnels and he needed idea's. But kits need aprenticeing, apprentices needed warrior and so on. Dusktalon didn't feel it was the right time to leave for the night perhaps at some point he'd go to moon pool with Redbreast but right now his clan can first. "You should all get some rest tommorrow is going to be long and difficult for us all." Dusktalon suggested. ooc:SRY!!!!!!! I got so caught up in other things and homework I forgot to post sry!!

Foxfoot nodded when Dusktalon spoke. "You're right," he meowed. "For now we will rest and hold a vigil for Elkstar, but in the morning, if you need help you can ask me," he meowed somewhat hesitantly. He wasn't sure if he was overstepping an invisible boundary by implying that he might need help. Even if he was a few moons older, Dusktalon still outranked him. He opened his mouth slightly as if preparing to apologize but instead he simply exhaled, shook his head and turned to say his final goodbye to Elkstar.

Unlike some deputies or future leaders, Dusktalon let the other warriors's comment slide. For right now wasn't the time for fighting or argueing over such little matters. "Thanks, I'll keep your offer in mind." He meowed. Dusktalon found Foxfoot as a trustworthy cat as he did others. As everyone settled Dusktalon continued to lay beside his leader wonder if he'd ever fall asleep, or dwell on these events.

Redbreast listed his head slightly, listening to the exchange between the two cats. He pulled away from Elkstar's frame, feeling a cat's eyes on him. "Blue," he said quietly, nudging his silent sister toward the caves. "They're right, get some rest. Find Thrushwood, rest," he repeated, and turned back toward his old friend.
The medicine cat glanced at Dusktalon, opening his mouth to speak, but quickly shutting it and resting his forehead against Elkstar's shoulder, pulling back only to speak his mind. "You're next in line, Dusktalon," he said quietly. "And I'm glad. When you wish to leave for Moonpool--" he didn't continue, shrugging his shoulders and lowering himself to the ground, resting his chin on his paws.[/color]

Dusktalon smiled the best he could again. He knew this was really hard on Redbrest since the Windclan medicine cat had been very close to Elkstar. He nodded in understanding. "I never thought it would come so quick," Dusktalon admitted lowly to Redbreast. "For now I shall wait for moonpool. Things should settle first before I claim my position completely," the tom continued. Glancing up at the opening in the roof he made a decidition he'd announce tommorrow. Windclan shall attend this moons gathering. ooc: my posting weird right now sry
