Dusktalon felt sorrow wash over him. He wished this hadn't come so quickly. Two waariors came from the side tunnel carrying a limb body. Dusktalon knew what he had to do for his clan had to go on. Their leader was found by the water deep in an unknown tunnel that hadn't been searched yet. Dusktalon had been called to the scene and he saw that Elkstar had fallen from a high ledge and had broken his neck and front legs fromt he inpackt killing him instantly. Dusktalon nodded to his warriors and then walked up to high ledge. Looking among Windclan he saw some had already looked to Elkstar's body and then too Dusktalon. He heard the sad whispers of the queens who kept their kits in the nusery. Dusktalon breathed in and parted his jaws to speak. "Let all those who are old enough to catch their own prey gather for a clan meeting!" He meowed loudly. His voice carrying at this time most of Windclan were in the main caves.
Dustpaw smelled the scent of death. It came over him in a hurry and he walked out of the apprentice sleeping hollow. As his eyes came to Dusktalon, they were caught by the sight of the limp body of Elkstar below the ledge. He didn't look away though he wanted too and he walked up behind Oatpaw. He was on the far side of Blackpaw he was the last cat he wanted to see. He wondered what happened. What would Windclan do now that Elkstar was gone?

Blackpaw slowly left the herb pile to go to the meeeting. He already knew what it was about and didn't want to go but he had to.He stayed near the herb pile but he was close enough to listen to what Dusktalon as to say.He was making sure he stayed out of Oatpaw's and Dustpaw's way.
[white]Windrunner strecthed and yawned. She left the den and walked over to the meeting place. She saw Dusktalon on the ledge and Elkstar dead on the ground. She sat down next to lackpaw. She knew he would be sad.[/white]

Death was the first thing that flared in her nostrils the smell of it in an enclosed place sent her stepping back a few paces. She blinked and only then the the smell of the cat reach her. Panic flared in her mind. tell me its not true. She gulped back the bile feeling in her mouth and pushed forward. Chicorys heart beat fast and she wished her eyes betrayed her but there before her was the body of a leader. This was going down hill why would the world be so cruel it let thoughts live who should not and quickly stole though who should. She looked away concentrating on the the fact that Redbreast would be there and dusk would take up leadership.
Whisperwind was in less shock she had always been away from the world and often off in space. The whiff of death did bring her back to reality and she felt a sad pain at the fact that the leader was gone but once again she left the world caught in the endless spirals of dreams. There was no sense dwelling on the dead the living where much more important. She managed to rench herself out of her musings again to notice the sad waves falling off her sister. Whisper didn't dare comfort her knowing they had never been close and sympathy would be received badly. She turned her intelligent but wild eyes on Dusktalon now the truth would be revealed if he was suited for his place.

Strikefrost, her belly swelling with kits now, padded quietly toward the dead leader, and hung her head sadly. Elkstar was a good leader, and would be dearly missed. She knew she couldn't forget, not so soon anyway, all Elkstar had done for them. But, to die at such a time would hurt the clan deeply. Strikefrost bowed her head, walking up toward Dusktalon and placing her tail gently on his shoulder. "Dusktalon," She whispered tenderly, looking to the limp body of her leader. " Dusktalon what-what happened?" Her voice cracked with suppressed sorrow, her kits began squirming inside of her. She was starving, again. But said nothing.

Dusktalon breathed in as cats gathered. He heard Strikefrost come up beside him. He glanced back at her. Her question was one he'd heard below several times over. He paused before answering her. "Strikefrost, I shall explain everything..."He could finish. "How about you join the other I'll tell everyone at once. And you should get something to eat." He said. Windclan had yet to have much of prey in the past few day but the freash-kill pile was full today. Dusktalon really didn't want to talk about Elkstar's death more then he had too.

He felt terrible. He felt ill, sick, his throat and muscles sore without any reason whatsoever. Elkstar had been on of Redbreast's best friends, a cat he owed a lot to. The medicine cat spotted Chicoryshard and made his way toward her, pausing once to give Blackpaw a comforting nudge to the shoulder. He sat beside the she-cat, leaning his muzzle close to her ear. "It'll be alright, Chicoryshard," he said, but his voice cracked.
Bluejay followed quietly behind Strikefrost, catching the conversation and darting away to fetch a mouse from the fresh kill pile. She passed Thrushwood, who was just far away enough to be almost hidden from the other cats.
"What's up?"
"Not now, Thrush. This ain't the time."
He huffed at her, turning a corner and faced with a wave of emotions from his clanmates. So much so he had to turn away, ears lowered with distaste for what he had seen. Chicoryshard. Redbreast and Chicoryshard. Elkstar. Thrushwood forced his gaze past the two cats and to his leader's body, almost feeling guilty in some way. I bet, he thought, I bet you're watching Windclan now. You know exactly what I'm gonna do. He glared up at the earthen roof. Well, shove off!
"Strikefrost." Bluejay dropped the mouse at her paws, not even attempting to smile. Instead, she leaned foward, pressing her forehead on the older warrior's shoulder, as if the young she-cat needed the support. To be honest, she probably did.

A white-and-tabby tom padded out of the warriors' sleeping hollow. Stretching across the ground to unfurl his muscles, stiff from sleep, Whitewhisker sat down on the floor of the Tunnels and stared up at Dusktalon. But his relaxation was quickly swept away by the sickening scent of death. The tom's blue eyes flew open wide, his gaze darting from one direction to the next in search of the deceased feline. And then, he found the unfortunate soul, but it was one of the worst cats to be captured by StarClan: Elkstar, WindClan's leader.
No words formed in his head. He couldn't even yowl in sorrow. He was simply frozen, stricken with shock just like every other who's eyes had rested on the lifeless body of their leader. How could this have happened? Especially in WindClan's time of weakness...They needed Elkstar. And what kind of ruler would Dusktalon be in Elkstar's place?
The future was shrouded for the time being. All anyone, including himself, could do was wait. Dusktalon clearly had some things to say and explain, and so for now, Whitewhisker waited. However, he couldn't keep himself from gaping at this sudden loss to the Clan. His jaw hung open as he fidgeted anxiously in his place among the crowd, cerulean eyes fixed on the limp Elkstar.

She looked sideways to find find Redbreast close. There was comfort in that but she could hear the pain in his voice. They had been close and as leader and medicine cats often are. "It will be okay " she whispered then said "he will always be with you". She hoped that would help comfort Redbreast for Elkstar was with the starclan they could meet again as would every one when there time came. Blue eyes looked around looking at the grim faces of her clan mates.

Lostkit knew from gossip what had happened, and came out of the nursery. Maybe she would get her apprentice ceremony soon. She walked up to her deceased leader to pay her respects. Lostkit then walked to the back of the clan, so she wouldn't be noticed.
Smoketail was close behind his mate. He remained quiet the whole time. It was becoming obvious that his mate was having kits. Smoke was becoming more and more protective of her the bigger she got. This could be her only chance to have kits, and he wasn't going to let anything happen to ruin that.

Mountainkit walked up with Lostkit following closely. She was quiet for once and sat with Lostkit with her tail around her paws. Her fur ruffled. Mountainkit's amber gaze came up to Dusktalon who stood before the clan on the ledge.
Dusktalon cleared his throat and gazed apon the cats below again. "Windclan As you have probably seen we have lost another of out clan. Elkstar was a noble and strong leader. He lead us through the bobcats attack , and past events."Dusktalon began. "Let us give thanks for his life. He was deticated to the clan, his memory shall never die in the forest, it shall live on. Now we commend his spirit to Starclan: may he find peace and watch over us in death as he had done in life." Dusktalon said he jumped from the ledge landing lightly beside Elkstar. A couple cats had come up and groomed Elkstar's fur. Dusktalon would stay with him tonight. Sorrow engulfed him Elkstar had pulled him through rough time taught him everything he knew. Elkstar his mentor and friend was there now before him. He licked Elkstar's eat and mummered something to his ear.
Dustpaw licked Elkstar ear after antother warrior said his good-byes. Things had gone down hill and Redbreast was upset. Elkstar watch over us and rest in peace. We will destroy bobcats I swear it. Dustpaw thought and walked toward the apprentice's den. He wasn't one of Elkstar's closest like Redbreast or Dusktalon therefore he wasn't allowed to watch over Elkstar. Dustpaw didn't think he would be able to sleep with the many things buzing in his head.

Blackpaw slowly paded up to Elkstar with Windrunner next to him.He licked his leader's ear and she did the same.He walked back to his den and layed down.He had tried so hard to hold back the tears but it was hard not to let them fall. His tears came spiraling down.He turned to face the wall so no one would see him cry.

Redbreast pressed his muzzle into the kind she-cat's fur. "True," he said, his voice dull. He turned, spotting Thrushwood sitting, staring up at the dusty ceiling. "I'm going to--" he whispered, motioning toward his younger brother, before leaving Chicoryshard.
Oh, great.
"Thrush, want to pay our respects together?" Redbreast asked, his voice straining. He stood a few feet away, tail low to the ground.
Thrushwood glanced up. Redbreast was nearly pleading with him. He'd only been this way once before: their parent's death. It's good practice, Thrushwood thought. "Yeah, sure. Okay."
Bluejay lifted her face from Strikefrost's fur, seeing her two brothers walking slowly, side-by-side, toward Elkstar's body. There was a rush in her, and she urged herself not to rush up to them. Perhaps she was forgiven? No, she figured, and the feelings were too much for her to bear. She took a couple of steps away from Strikefrost, shaking her head. Suddenly, she spun and leaped off into the tunnels. She didn't know, nor care, where she ended up. Somewhere away.
Redbreast licked his old friend's shoulder, heaving a sad sigh. He whispered something into his ear, something incomprehensible, before glancing at Thrushwood. With a jolt of fear, Redbreast's eyes crossed and he saw Thrushwood dig his claws into Elkstar's body, tearing into the dead cat's belly. His brother spun toward him, pushing him to the ground with his front legs--
"Hey. Red?"
"What...whatsit?"
"You almost fainted."
Redbreast shook himself, rushing foreward and inspecting Elkstar. Nothing, nothing there that he had seen Thrushwood do. It'd been some sort of nightmare, just a nightmare. Besides, he thought, shaking his head, Thrushwood would never do such a thing. Never. His brother wasn't a killer. He didn't have the heart.
Thrushwood looked over the dead cat before him, resentment welling in his chest. Whatever. "You make sure no one up there tries to be her ol' Gaurdian Angel, yeah?" he whispered into Elkstar's ear, giving him a nuzzle on his cheek. "Goodbye, Elkstar. We'll all miss you." The words were fake, of course, just some repeated thing he'd heard during his parent's burial. All's well, he thought, turning away and leaving Redbreast to sit in silence.

((1. sorry for not posting sooner. 2. Fire, you NEED to ask me before you create any boards. I will let it slip this time, but do not forget. 3. I am thinking about a plot with Shiverpaw(pool) that has something to do with Elkstar's death -ponders-))
A large silver gray tom cat made his way down the tunnel behind the two warriors carrying the leaders body. His eyes were dark, almost sad but not quite. He looked away, a small grin, or grimace? Covering his face. Shiverpool never cared for the leader, and frankly the leader never liked Shiver anyways. Shiverpool was ten moons without a mentor, he had reasons to be angry. As they laid Elkstars body on the ground he swiped the grin off his face and changed it to a frown, he looked around the shocked faces of the clan cats and waited for a few to say their words of sadness and grief. Padding forward he crouched by the passed leaders head and whispered very quietly "Ah Elkstar, the clan will be better without you. We will move on"
A large tabby cat stared in horror as the body of Elkstar emerged from a tunnel. She lowered her head and stared at the small pools of water with tears in her eyes, why did the leader have to leave so soon? She swallowed sadly and moved forward, padding to Dusktalons side. She had never talked to the tom much, or Elkstar, but frankly she wanted to finally become in touch with Windclan. Spiritwhisper looked up, her pale green eyes looking into Dusktalons. "I'm so sorry Dusktalon. Elkstars death was premature. You will, however, be a fine, fine leader". She brushed her tail across his shoulder as a sign of comfort before looking to the body, then turning her head away. She sat and dipped her head in sadness.[/color]

ooc:OOPS! Sry Raven!!! Also Day time surprises Dusktalon's amber gaze met Spirtwhisper's green one. She was a reliable cat. He found his voice and spoke again. "Thank-you Spiritwhisper." He replied in a soft velvet tone. He would miss Elkstar's leadership. He had died too young still having many moons left. But now Dusktalon was the next leader in line. He was confident in himself but still had abit of doubt, was he the right one for this? He pushed that away and gazed to Elkstar's lifeless body again.
