Scarletpaw's boring day....JK

Scarletpaw walked into the medicine cat den, her ears pricked for signs of life. Everything seemed in order, Herbs were neatly placed, bedding nice and comfy. The herb smell was beautiful! She let out a quit purr. Her ears seemed to loosen a little, as she began to wonder if there was anyone there.

Then, out of a small corner, came a muffled snore. Scarletpaw slunk over to were the noise had come from. A bundle of fur lay on the ground. Scarletpaw could barely suppress a giggle, as her new mentor mumbled in his sleep. She looked around, and noticed a smaller bundel of moss a little farther away. Scarletpaw padded over to it. It was fresh and didnt have any other cat scent in it.

She thought of curling up in it. "No, I better not." She mumbled quitly. Scarletpaw turned around and walked to the entrance of the den. She stretched, arching her back as high as it could go. Then sat laid down, waiting for her mentor to wake up and give her some sort of instruction.

'You mousebrained fool!' Talonwind dropped down, flattening himself to the hard dirt ground. "Leave me be Stonewood!" The large tom smiled a crooked smile, unforgiving maybe, hatred no. Talonwing flashed his teeth at his older mentor, "I can fight to Stonewood!" The elderly Medicine cat lashed his tail and paced around his apprentice, 'Ahh yes I have taught you well. But how well?' With that Stonewood darted forward, slapping at young Talonwing's paws. Talongwing went crashing to the ground, he winced as his shoulder came into contact with a sharp stone.

Talonwing's eyes flew open, he found himself staring ahead at the edge of his den, memory fresh in his mind. Mouse tails. Pushing himself so he was sitting up Talonwing shook his head to clear the memory. He and his mentor always acted violnt towards one another, even though they had liked one another like father and son. He parted his jaws in a massive yawn, pearly white teeth glinting in the pale light. As he took a breath a strange scent invaded, a cat smell of course, kind of sweet like herbs. Scarletpaw, he had a small half smile and looked over his jet black shoulder, piercing gold eyes burning into Scarletpaws smber brown ones. "Good morning Scarletpaw, how have you been?"

((I want you to try to do a post like you did before (very nice using 3 paragraphs btw) but try to add details, like feelings, scents, thoughts, and environment. But be careful about Godmoding and Power playing))

Scarletpaw let out a soft purr, Eyes gazing into her mentors. "I've been fine, thank you. " She giggled in spite of herself. Scarletpaw pushed herself to her paws and stretched. Still giggling, she padded over to Talonwing and brushed a piece of moss off his nose. "You were mumbling in your sleep about some cat named stonewood....?" There was question in her words but she herself didn't seem to notice it. Her paws kneaded the ground impatiently, she was eager to learn about the herbs. Will I be as wise as Talonwing some day? She thought.

Her eyes wandered to the pile of herbs at the back of the tree stump. They were running short of Marigold. "What are we going to do today?" She asked enthusiastically. She bounced on her heels a little bit, and stared at her mentor, waiting for instructions.

Talonwing kneeded the ground as well, he normaly did when he woke up, it helped him wake up. He blinked, slightly startled when Scarletpaw brushed the peice of moss from his nose, and then started her giggling fit. He smiled, and let out a small purr of amusement. Standing he arched his back in a streach, tan paws sliding along the ground. What should we do today? He pulled his tail around to his side, lettingit rest on the ground next to his hid leg.

He listened to Scarletpaws words as he moved over to the herb stocks. Yes Marigold and...Catmint. He nodded "Well we do need to collect Marigold and Catmint. We will do that first, but then I think you need to start working on fighting skills." He flashed the young apprentice a sly smile. Fighting skills, one of his talents. "Stonewood..." She had asked didn't she? "Stonewood was my mentor, he was wise but a brilliant fighter." He paused, turning towards the entrace of the den. "He was a lead warrior before he became medicine cat."[/color]

Scarletpaw nodded, listening intently. Not only did she get to collect herbs, she got to explore the territory too! Fighting skills. As if I need to work on those! She thought childishly. But he was right, it would be a good idea to work on them.... She caught the sly look, and lashed her tail playfully.

Talonwing kept talking, and she kept listening. Stonewood, what did he mean he BECAME a medicine cat when he was a lead warrior?? A lead warrior before he was a medicine cat? She shuddered. Had something happened to Talonwing's mentor that was so horrible it prevented him from finishing his warrior duties? She decided to ask. "Why did Stonewood become a medicine cat if he was the lead warrior?" The question tumbled clumsily from her mouth. "And were will we be collecting herbs at?"

Outside he day was clear, hopefuly there wouldn't be any storms. But in the distance thunder rolled, lighting struck, and a storm loomed. Talonwings solid black ears flicked backwards towards the low distant sound. We'd better hurry, hopefully the winds are on our side. He turned his golden gaze from the entrance to Scarletpaw again, she seemed excited. Hopefully she would be as enthusiastic when they were done fight training. He smiled and flicked his tail towards the entrance, but he paused when she asked about his old mentor.

"How did he go from lead warror to Medicine cat?" He paused, finding and remembering all the details he was told as an apprentice. "One of our apprentice's had gone to close to the lake at the edge of our territory. The apprentice thought he could swim out to the middle and back without drownding." He paused, remembering the sad story. "It was greenleaf, so the twolegs were here with their water monsters. Stonewood swam out to save the drowning appretnice but was bitten by one of the water monsters. He severely injured his shoulder, and he was all cut up. He spent so long in the medicine cat den that when the old medicine cat passed on and left no apprentice he took over." He then went silent for a few moments, letting the story sink in. "Today we are going up to the twoleg house then near the water."[/color]

Scarletpaw followed Talonwing's gaze. She saw the storm in the distance but ignored it. Talonwing began telling Scarletpaw about Stonewood's accident. She shuddered again. The water monster's bit him.? She wondered who the apprentice was, but didn't ask. If she kept asking questions, the storm would roll in and they wouldn't get to do today's work.

The twoleg nest. She thought slowly. Memories came seeping back into her mind. Her mother had been a kittypet, but she refused to tell anyone. Could she trust Talonwing with her most darkest secret? She deicided to tell him later on... She shut her eyes tight for a moment. Visions in her head swirling like mist on a cold day.

She was lying in a basket, wailing for her mother. Beside her was her little brother (Weed) and her sister(Buggy).... Scarletpaw could hear them wailing too. "Momma!" cried her brother. With her eyes barley open, Scarletpaw spotted a beautiful, slender, golden tabby she-cat. I don't look like my mother. She thought sadly. A big, dark, russet tom appeared beside Scarletpaw's mother. He looked identical to Scarletpaw! She couldnt beleive it! After all this time she thought.... Wait, there was another cat to. It was Armor! The large tabby tom's eyes were filled with energy, as he scooped up Scarletpaw. Scarletpaw dint protest, and swung from his jaws with out a sound.

Her mother and father picked up Buggy and Weed, and they headed towards a cat flap. As Scarletpaw looked around the twoleg nest, she thought it was abandoned. No twolegs, no twoleg scent.... She had forgotten about this.... She let out a squek of surprise as Armor pushed his way through the cat flap. "Sorry, little bit." His voice was deep and soothing. Then her parents broke into a run, and Armor caught up with them quickly. Her mothers former kittypet coat, rippled with every paw step.

As they neared a verge, they caught sight of a large group of cats. Some of them looked bored, others looked as bouncy as kits. Scarletpaw let out a purr of delight, as she saw her new best friend, (Saphire) waiting with enough energy to top the whole band of loners. This is my old home. She thought, wishing the memory could last forever.

Scarletpaw opened her eyes. She shook her head to clear her thoughts, and looked up at Talonwing. "Sorry, i didnt fall asleep did i." She asked, looking down at her paws. Then she remembered. "Are we going to goto twoleg place now?" She didnt wait for an answer, and bounded out of the medicine cat den.

Talonwing turned his raven face away from his apprentice. Memories flooded back, this den, the lake, the apprentice. He shivered and squeezed his eyes shut. When Stonewood was made medicine cat Talonwing was a mere kit, about three moons old. And yet the talented medicine cat remembered the day like it was yesterday.

The sky was gray, covered with clouds, a thin drizzle slowly pelted the ground. Warriors moved around slowly, untill of course a young apprentice darted into camp. Drizzlepaw looked around franticly, his eyes wide. Talonkit looked up, confusion on his young face. "Hey ya Drizzle! What's happening?" Drizzle ignored the young kit and darted up to the closest warrior, Stonewood. 'Stonewood! It's Oakpaw, he is trying to swim to the center of the lake and back! But there are water monsters swarming him!' His breathing was labored, after all he ran all the way from the lake.

Stonewoods eyes widened and he spoke quickly, and quietly to the young apprentice. Nodding Drizzlepaw took off, and Stonewood darted out of camp. Looking around Talonkit slipped out of camp, following the warrior close, but not to close. His tan paws carried him warily along the scent trail of the lead warrior. But he didn't expect to see Stonewood look at the apprentice in the water then dive in himself. Talonkit gasped and moved forward to the waters edge, the water lapped at his paws, making him feel uneasy.

Stonewood paddeld strongly to the drowning apprentice. Grasping the apprentice by the scruff Stonewood turned and started paddling back. But just when it seemed everything was going to be ok, a water monster turned towards the two cats. The apprentice was barely awake but was able to start paddling himself. Stonewood tried to dive under the water but was to late, the monster ran right over the top of the tom. Horrified Talonkit let out a high pitched yowl of terror.

Talonwing opened his eyes, he was awake the entire time, listeneing to everything, but the memory had come flooding back. Turning he looked to Scarletpaw. "Yes we are going to the Twoleg place now. However..." He paused remembering the twoleg place. "You must stay close and pay attention to every single thing I say". His bright gold eyes locked on Scarletpaws, waiting for an answer.

Scarletpaw looked into Talonwing's bright eyes. She dipped her head as he spoke.
"Yes Talonwing, i wont leave your side for a moment." She promised. She bounded forward, but didnt get far.

"Opps, sorry." She said, as she colided head first into another apprentice. Scarletpaw gave her russet fur a few quick licks, before saying anything.
"Sorry about that, i'm just really excited." Her gaze flicked to Talonwing, and then back to the apprentice.

I didnt do anything wrong, it was an accident. She reassured herself. She stared up at the apprentice. The apprentice looked older then her, but she was about the same size, as them.

Scarletpaw could barely sit still, she fidgeted in place. She glanced at Talonwing again. His black coat looked shiny when the sun hit it. Is this apprentice gonna say anything or what? Scarletpaw thought angerly. Some cats can be so rude! Her muscular body tensed, as she looked at the look on the other apprentices face.

Spiritpaw looked up at who had crashed into her
"Hey watch it! who do you think you are anyway crashin into innocent cats?!" Spiritpaw hissed" now if you dont mind I'd like to get some help with this thron in my pad! Spiritpaw glared at the two cats in front of her
"WELL? isnt somone gonna help me or am I in the wrong den!"

Anger flowed through Scarletpaw's veins. "Why you!...." She cut short. I am a medicine cat, and I must control my anger. She thought with a deep breath. "Talonwing, can you show me how to remove this thorn?" She asked with clenched teeth.

Her eyes stayed locked on the apprentice, as she waited for an answer. The fur on her shoulders didn't seem to want to lie flat.
Stupid furball Spiritflight! Always hostile, if she hadn't been in the way I would be in the forest by now! Her anger seemed uncontrollable, and she wanted to shred the apprentices ears.

Spiritpaw glared at Scarletpaw does she ever watch where she goes she wondered. She losend up a bit and made her voice sound polite
"if you dont mind I have to get back to hunting so if you can PLEASE get this out of my paw I would be grateful"
She replied to scarletpaws angry glare
"you can lie your fur flat you know" She hissed

Scarletpaw glared at the apprentice. Her claws seemed to have a mind of there own, as they unsheethed. I can not beleive her!
Scarletpaw thougth as the Spiritpaw faked a smile towards Talonwing. She took a step towards the apprentice as she spoke.
"Well, we have to get back to getting herbs, so why dont you hurry up and let us take the thorn out." She said it with more force then she had ment to, but she didnt care.

Scarletpaw glanced at Talonwing.
"Talonwing, can we remove the thorn from Spiritpaw's pad now?" She asked. The apprentice kept talking.
"I'll let my fur lay flat when I want to." She didnt try to hide the coolness in her voice as she spoke. I hope you get a bigger thorn stuck in your pad. Scarletpaw thought evily.

Scarletpaw sat down on the hard ground.
"Well, let's see your pad then." She said warily. She looked up at Talonwing for help. I cant do this on my own you know! She thought with a flick of her ear. Talonwing seemed distracted all of a sudden, I wonder why... Scarletpaw's head hurt, she was doing to much thinking today.

Spiritpaw glared right back again. Looking at scarletpaws unsheathed claws she let out a low gowl
"I didnt come her for a fight! Just get this thorn out of my paw so I can leave!"
She looked deeply into Scarletpaws eyes
" you first duty as a medicine cat is to HELP the clan not fight them! and you can gather herbs too... AFTER you get this thing out of my paw!"
She lisened to scarlet paw for a second then zoned out and lost whats she was saying she came back a bit later and heard scarletpaw say
"Well, lets see your pad then"
"Ahhh finally thank you" she said sarcasticly holding out her pad.

Scarletpaw wanted to rip Spiritpaw's eyes out, but she knew she couldnt. She looked up at Talonwing. She gazed into his eyes, there was something there, something deep....
"Talonwing, may we get on with it?" She didnt mean to be rude, she just wanted to go out into the forest. She shook herself to clear her thoughts.
